SQL Server DBA

Hi-Tech Solutions is recruiting for an SQL Server DBA to analyze database requirements of existing and/or new client/server applications.

Responsibilities:Administer and control the activities related to data planning and development and the establishment of policies and procedures pertaining to its management, security, maintenance, and utilization. Identify and implement solutions that require definition of the physical structure and functional capabilities of databases and require data security and data backup/recovery specifications. Central focus/resource for change management. Responsible for software code change management processes, procedures, and software code control. Produce or draft association manuals, resource or other written materials such as: Database standards and procedures. Provide technical support to others such as: Database reviews and creation; creating stored procedures; review code; quality assurance and performance review of database objects and SQL. Perform quality assurance and performance reviews of database objects, SQL code; transact SQL, DTS packages, and stored procedures. Set up new databases, create objects, permissions and modify existing systems. Assist developers with improving performance of existing and new applications, creating stored procedures, tables, and indexes. Establish and enforce proper security access, standards, and procedures for all databases and/or tables. Research database related issues and recommend appropriate course of action. Recommend operational standards, policy and/or procedures. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional organizations as appropriate to field. Provide input to manager and assist in implementing department plans and goals. Educate other staff or members regarding department policies and procedures. Recommend standards or procedures to be adhered to by outside vendors.

Required Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S) (Area of study preferred – Information Technology). Minimum of 5 to 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 10 years Microsoft SQL server, DBMS experience in logical physical database design, performance tuning, writing Transact SQL and DTS packages, and establishing security policies/procedures and access. 10 years Microsoft Windows NT experience. 3 to 5 years experience in production database support and maintenance. 5 years of experience in developing, implementing and documenting database standards and procedures.
