CRA International is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Energy Environment – Enterprise and Asset Investment practice.

CRA’s Energy Environment – Enterprise and Asset Investment practice provides technical and economic analysis of complex network systems, specifically electrical, using sophisticated power flow and dispatch simulation models as well as econometric methods of analysis of operational and market data. These analyses provide decision support to market participants, investors, governmental agencies and regulators. The results are used by CRA experts in arbitration and litigation hearings regarding technically complex contracts. We have pioneered techniques and models that have become industry standards, including competitive market designs, efficient bidding mechanisms, creative financial transactions, and methodologies to assess market power.
We are seeking a Senior Associate for our Energy Environment – Enterprise and Asset Investment practice to demonstrate strong quantitative skills to conduct and/or oversee analysis of industry information and market data. The Senior Associate may serve as a project manager, direct the work of others, oversee analysis, manage client expectations, and/or communicate project results. Senior Associates are expected to work independently with minimal supervision. We are accepting applications for the Cambridge, MA office.
Candidates must be able to effectively plan and manage the execution of significant sub-tasks on straightforward projects, conceptualize and analyze issues, and perform or direct a wide variety of analytical tasks. Senior Associates at CRA are expected to have and maintain superb technical skills and have an outstanding level of commitment to the firm and its objectives. Additional responsibilities
· Independently identify/design analytic tasks and contribute to the development of overall analytic framework for projects that involve analysis of straightforward problems
· Interface with client representatives to communicate developments and present results
· Draft reports or presentations, or sections of reports or presentations, that involve standard analysis
· Contribute to project planning and budget management efforts
· Provide training and technical supervision to less-experienced staff, including reviewing their analyses and providing coaching/direction
· Contribute to business development efforts and draft client proposals
QualificationsAdvanced-degreed training (PhD, MA/MS or MBA) in electrical engineering with emphasis on the analysis of large-scale power networks. Knowledge of economics and finances is not required but highly desirable. Must have strong interest in learning economics, structuring and operations of electricity markets. Must be an experienced user of the PowerWorld Simulator. Knowledge of production costing simulation tools such as GE MAPS, ProMod, GridView or Plexos is a strong plus.Strong technical skills include proficiency with MS Excel, MS Access, VBA and Matlab. Familiarity with SQL Server and/or with data analysis packages, such as SAS or SPSS and /or with GAMS is a strong plusHigh-level skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis methods and techniques, linear programming and other optimization techniques
