The Bard Group is a healthcare management consulting company with an established national clientele of academic medical centers, complex health systems, community-based hospitals, and large physician organizations. We work closely with physicians and senior executives in the areas of integration strategy, service line development and performance excellence.

 

The Senior Consultant manages multiple engagements in healthcare systems, hospitals, academic medical centers and physician organizations and is supported by other consultants and support staff.  The Senior Consultant manages engagements related to integration strategy, service line development and performance excellence in healthcare systems, hospitals, academic medical centers, and physician organizations.  The Senior Consultant contributes to business development through identification of new and follow-on business and support of sales and marketing activities.  The Senior Consultant has responsibility for the engagement’s success.  Limited travel is a requirement of this position.

 

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
Primary role as engagement manager; secondary roles as engagement lead and consultant

Engagement Delivery:

n  Act as The Bard Group’s primary point-of-contact for client engagement

n  Perform engagement management activities including: planning, budgeting, resource management, issue tracking and status reporting

n  Review and create engagement deliverables to ensure quality

n  Build client relationships throughout client organization

n  Build cohesive engagement teams

n  Develop the engagement approach with the consulting team

n  Review client satisfaction on an ongoing basis throughout the engagement

n  Identify engagement risks and plans for managing the risks

Sales and Marketing:

n  Identify follow-on opportunities and provide plan

n  Lead development of proposals

n  Present at conferences

Company Management:

n  Develop tools to support delivery

n  Comply with organization’s policies and procedures and may be required to perform other duties as required

Staff Development:

n  Provide coaching to other team members as needed

n  Mentor and/or Performance Manager to consultants

 

EDUCATION:  A graduate degree required. Degrees in business, healthcare administration, public health, or clinical discipline are strongly preferred.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

n  Minimum of 6 years of consulting or project based experience

n  Minimum of 10 years healthcare industry experience is required

n  Healthcare management experience

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

n  In-depth knowledge of healthcare industry with knowledge of integration strategy, service line development and/or performance excellence

n  Thought leader

n  Record of progressive leadership positions/responsibility

n  Strategic and operational expertise with developing successful relationships between the faulty practice plans and medical school

n  Excellent engagement management, design and leadership skills

n  Demonstrated success in managing sizeable consulting engagements and/or projects

n  Demonstrated success with leading and facilitating meetings

n  Experience and ease in working with physicians in a clinical or business environment

n  Demonstrated success in professional development of junior staff

n  Proven assessment and analytical skills; excellent presentation, communication and writing skills

n  Ability to meet deadlines and work in deadline-driven environments

n  Ability to synthesize, distill concepts, draw conclusions, and identify implications with demonstrated capacity for conceptual and strategic thinking

n  Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills with proficiency in common software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

n  Business development skills

 

This position is ideal for a motivated professional consultant ready to take leadership and management responsibility on engagements.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Work may require working long hours including extended travel, meetings before 8:00 am and after 6:00 pm, and flexibility to make last-minute changes in schedule to meet client needs. May also require sitting for extended periods of time.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is often performed in an office environment, and may require frequent travel by car or airplane; overnight stays in hotels, and out-of-town meetings at client sites including offices and healthcare facilities. Full-time position is considered fifty hours/week, although more hours may be required to complete assigned duties.
