Senior Consultant- Cognos

Job DescriptionDeliver on Cognos application projects meeting clients tactical and strategic requirements over a full project lifecycle. Candidate will be fully engaged in deployment activities, providing technical guidance to the project team. Develop, monitor, and implement Cognos standards on all work streams for clients. Lead the Cognos upgrade migration plan across all work streams and coordinate activities with business, development, and data warehouse teams as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesFour plus years current Cognos experience as a programmer and analyst. Skills & experience must include Cognos series 7 or 8 Design, model and build of analytical cubes Overall Cognos project management during upgrades Develop and support of cognos applications and reports using Cognos 8, reportnet, transformer, powerplay, and metrics manager primarily Cognos migrations, job scheduling and script development Cognos performance auditing and tuning five (5) to seven (7) years of business analyst experience across multiple functional business areas Two (2) to three (3) years of business intelligence project management experience Five (5) to seven (7) years hands-on Cognos development experience Minimum of two (2) years experience with ReportNet Minimum of two (2) years Cognos administration experience Any experience with Cognos script is a plus Three (3) to five (5) years experience in data warehousing ETL experience is a plus Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to perform on a high-delivery team Strong reasoning and problem solving skills Self-motivator and focused on delivering technical solutions for business benefit

Education and CertificationsBachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred with minimum of seven (7) years experience Cognos certification a plus

Other RequirementsDesign, implement, and maintain a scalable Cognos architecture Work closely with the key customers to manage the successful implementation and support of Cognos applications Oversee security strategy for all Cognos-related objects Review performance and capacity of system periodically to maintain optimum efficiency Lead and provide guidance for business intelligence-related Cognos development Design, develop and document the Cognos-related work in accordance with the standards and best practices Provide on-call support for business intelligence operations Understand OLAP and dimensional concepts Understand data warehousing from source to target including data structures, ETL processes and reporting solutions Work closely with business and end-users to translate functional and business requirements into technical requirements Perform testing and quality assurance activities in accordance with standard best practices Provide audit statistics for internal analysis of Cognos usage
