ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTER

Job Purpose:

Engineers millwork and prepares high quality shop drawings through comprehensive knowledge and experience in the use of AutoCAD and other provided programs.

Duties:

* Prepares accurate submittal shop drawings by studying architectural specifications and creating visual guidelines showing technical details, specific dimensions, materials and procedures.

* Ability to engineer a wide range of architectural millwork items.

* Ability to create submittal packages, including cut sheets.

* Releases products to the Production Department for fabrication.

* Provides  Production Department with clear and concise direction for completion of the manufacturing process.

* Identifies and verifies specifications by examining architectural documents.

* Modifies drawings by studying changes; redrawing requirements.

* Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information; conferring with project managers.

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.

* Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

* Ability to convey critical information in the form of high quality AutoCAD drawings.

* Ability to draw a job from start to finish.

* Knowledge of basic manufacturing procedures and standard building techniques.

* Knowledge of materials used in the manufacture of millwork, production machinery and basic installation techniques.

* Excellent organizational, time management and team work skills.

* Knowledge of basic drafting skills, dedicated to accuracy with ability to decipher and understand scope of work.

* Proficient in use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet and e-mail. 

* Possess a positive attitude, professional business demeanor and appearance.
