Administrative Asssitant/Bookkeeper

Tomco Products is a small manufacturing facility in Azusa, CA looking to fill a position for a Full-Time Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper in a one person office. 

Approximately one third of this position will consist of accounting/bookkeeping utilizing QuickBooks Pro 2008 software.  The ideal candidate will be familiar with all aspects of accounting to include Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable; Collections; Billing; Payroll and Workman's Compensation Insurance; State and Federal weekly electronic tax deposits; Quarterly reports such as tax returns, Sales and Use Tax reports and EDD Payroll Summary; End of the Year reporting to Tax Accountant and EDD Year End Reconciliation; Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations and Bank Deposits.

The administrative portion of this position includes answering phones and screening phone calls; reviewing e-mail messages; handling incoming and outgoing mail; filing/faxing/copying; writing and editing correspondence; updating company policies and procedures, administering safety meetings and updating the safety board; maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets; overseeing Human Resources relations, benefits and ensuring compliance with State and Federal labor laws; maintaining and updating quarterly price history reports; providing support for our Sales and Purchasing Agent; overseeing the QuickBooks Back-Up Online; maintaining inventory and ordering office supplies; providing administrative support and conducting research for the company in all aspects of city, county, state and federal issues and activities which may affect the business.

We are looking for someone who is trustworthy, kind and personable; a self-starter and a team player who has initiative, but is willing to consult others in a decision making process; someone who has great attention to detail and is familiar with Excel, Word and QuickBooks.  We are also looking for someone with good organizational skills, who is punctual, reliable and responsible.

The work schedule for this position is a forty hour work week: Monday 8 am to 4:30 pm; Tuesday thru Thursday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and Friday 7:30 am to 2:30 pm.We do not have health insurance benefits or a retirement program.Employees are entitled to be paid for seven holidays plus four personal business days per year after having completed the 90-day probationary period.Vacation hours are accumulated at the rate of 1 week a year for the first year, two weeks per year after three years, and three weeks per year after five years of employment.
