Advanced Manufacturing Materials Flow Manager, Terex Construction
This role will define the materials flow methodology to be applied within Greenfield manufacturing sites for Terex Construction, a $2.0 billion Global Manufacturing and distribution business. This will include establishing a standard approach for initiating lean material flow processes at new locations, including the initial training of plant management, materials managers and team members. Additionally this position will have the duty of transferring the materials of the mother facility to a Greenfield daughter facility, which include logistics systems, verifying BOM accuracy, and supply chain capabilities. The work will be accomplished within the context of several new plant start-up projects, with tight time constraints and cost targets. The role will lead the initial material flow process at start up, and will then transition the work to the local management team. Success will be achieved when the plant teams are independently capable of on-going self management. This position will also contribute to the creation of the culture of the new Construction manufacturing plants. Key Tasks: • Define vision of ideal materials flow process for application within new Terex Construction manufacturing sites. • Create systems and standard work to be applied by new factory materials flow teams & mother plant, to address the following issues: o Materials distribution o Plant production plans o Scheduling and build coordination o Plant build parameters o BOM accuracy verification o Transfer of the BOM from Mother facility to daughter facility o Fishbone analysis of product o Logistics between mother plant, current supply chain, and daughter plant o Plant material location address system o PFEP (plan for every part) database (internal distribution loop information) o All internal production material signaling, coordination and auditing o Internal material flow routes and schedules o 5S of all production material outside the central stores. o Central Stores (including sizing and cycle counting). • Support hiring process for daughter plants (interviewing and staff selection). • Train, lead, coach and mentor new materials flow team members at new production facilities to bring to full competence. • Project manage the materials flow function startup for each new plant. Report on status of projects at each Terex Construction Gate review. • Continually monitor and improve the quality, efficiency and responsiveness of all business activities in the area of responsibility in order to ensure total internal and external customer satisfaction. Initial Challenges • Perform detailed analysis and baseline of existing Mother Plant materials flow processes, systems, and status. Prepare recommendations for modification in application at Daughter Plant. • Referencing existing TBS source material, create templates and standard work to enable fast startup of Daughter Plant Material Flow function. • Start specific preparation work for new lines at planned initial projects. Education A bachelor degree in a relevant subject, preferably technical or engineering. An understanding of broader business needs which could be demonstrated by an advanced degree such as an MBA or previous work experience is desirable. Language Requirements English is essential and a second language would be an advantage. Travel Estimated travel is 30% to 50%. Experience: 1. A minimum of five years' experience in materials flow management in a continuous flow manufacturing environment. 2. Thorough understanding of TBS / TPS / lean concepts gained through application and improvement in actual manufacturing leadership positions. 3. Track record of high-level problem solving skills and management experience in a highly dynamic manufacturing environment. 4. Sense of humor and ability to work at a high level under pressure is desired. Skills The candidate should be a proven change agent, who has high intellect, is results-oriented and leads an organization through his/her own inspiration and example. In addition, the candidate must create a very open and transparent environment.
