Advanced i5 Technical Services Administrator (261054-570)

DescriptionMission: This position is responsible for performing primary and secondary system administrative and operational functions related to the i5 computer systems with an emphasis on providing first-class service to our customers. Core Responsibilities•Responsible for the i5 change management process that ensures application program and database integrity.•Implements hardware, OS and software changes to the i5 systems for expansion or revision. •Maintains current system patch levels.•Performs and monitors data transfers between multiple i5 systems, as well as data transfers between the i5 and non-i5 platforms.*Ability to review and implement i5 operating system changes and upgrades.*Monitor the impact of software modifications and enhancements as they apply to system performance and SLA’s. * Creates and maintains necessary user options and descriptions to allow access and improvements in i5 user profile option groups.*Analyzes system job controls and develops alternatives to increase production efficiency.•Responsible for level 2 diagnosis and resolution of i5 hardware and software issues. •Assists other IT support teams in resolving issues.•Creates and maintains i5 system administration documentation.•Some travel may be required, including on-site presence at various co-location sites within the US and Canada.•Required to be available for off-hours work as determined by business needs.•Required to perform i5 operational tasks as determined by business needs.Required Skills•BS in Computer Technology, or equivalent degree, or equivalent experience. •Excellent communication and organizational skills. •Minimum of 6+ years experience working with IBM mid-range computer systems.•Hands-on experience with i5 servers.•In-depth knowledge of IBM BRMS.•A strong understanding of Aldon Change Management System software preferred. Equivalent software experience considered.•A strong understanding of Vision high availability software. Equivalent software experience considered.•Experience in the design, implementation and support of i5 system architecture, including features such as LPAR, Micro-partitioning, Storage virtualization and Capacity-on-Demand. •Experience interfacing I5 systems and data with other I5, WIntel and UNIX based systems in a distributed environment.•Knowledge of CL programming and FTP scripting. •Must possess an understanding of Host Management Console in a multiple partition i5 environment.•Demonstrated strong knowledge of i5 system backup/recovery techniques. •Strong understanding of i5 networking architecture and security concepts. •Functional knowledge of TCP/IP networking standards, including standard protocols (DNS, SMTP, FTP, Telnet, SSH, HTTP/S, etc.).•Ability to analyze business requirements and provide sound technical solutions that address business needs.•Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications. •Excellent time management skills, including the abilities to prioritize and multitask. •Excellent customer service skills and customer facing skills.•Demonstrated problem solving skills.•Ability to effectively work under pressure. •Ability to successfully work in a team environment
