Applications Engineer (Control Valves)

Job Summary Responsible for domestic/international inside sales activities which includes answering customer questions about products, pricing, delivery and applications; accepting and preparing quotations and sales orders; and serving as a liaison between the company and the customer. Responsibilities -Follows Company and departmental policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations.-Assists in the establishment and administration of departmental policies and procedures. -Receives and reviews customer inquiries, requests, and correspondence. Gathers necessary information and data to formulate timely responses and to quote prices and deliveries.-Communicates and cooperates with other departments to facilitate efficient operations, particularly Engineering and Manufacturing, regarding design, specifications, delivery and service.-Receives and initiates processing of sales orders.-Maintains files of required records and documents received, sent and associated with sales orders. Keeps a record of telephone calls received to provide documentation supporting the verbal information given to customers.-Acts as liaison with customers to service customer needs and resolve differences as they may occur.-Provide application engineering support for various product lines (including skids)-Size/Select/Price/Quote control valves as they relate to customer supplied specifications.-Assist in the development or technical proposals as they relate to surge skid quotes and prequalification tenders.-Develop and maintain product bulletins and I.O.M. for the product line.-Assist aftermarket department to help identify parts for existing valve installations as they relate to preparing quotes/orders for replacement components to assure field compatibility.-Develop and provide technical/sales presentation to customers to educate on control valve products.-Provide sales and technical training to direct sales personnel and distributors on the function, and fit for application on control valve products.-Travel to required locations to provide technical assistance and trouble shoot in commissioning and customer start-up of control valve products as required.-May perform other work related assignments as deemed necessary and appropriate by supervisor. Qualifications -BSME, BSMET or equivalent-5-7 years experience with control valve and actuator sizing /selections process, accompanied with the proper selection of instrumentation packaging as it relates to component identification for pilots and regulators.-5-7 years experience with pilot operated and spring loaded pressure regulators utilized in conjunction with control valve applications.-5-7 years experience reviewing customer supplied specifications, P&ID, and data sheets as they pertain to specific job issuance and apply to SPX equipment offering to determine best valve selection suited for purpose and application.
