Job Description Applications Technical Support Engineer Applications Technical Support Engineer  Position description: Provide software applications support to Field Engineers.Perform tests to ensure conformance to metrics for product release.Specifically related to installation, operation, calibration, service, testing of a new hardware, process or software design.Provide Beta site support.Provide relief by working assigned projects in conjunction with customers and engineering owner.Act as a mentor for junior level field engineers.Act as a field escalation point of contact.Act as a crisis manager when necessary.Make presentations at the Technical or Management level to customers on system upgrades, support plans and technical demonstrations.Organize and implement training seminars for customers and field service personnel on product upgrades, customer problems and possible solutions.Create technical publications and review documents covering technical improvements.Assist field engineers with on site customer training when necessary.Initiate and provide review of ECO’s to ensure proper data supports fix and follow up with communications to the field.Develops and presents financial analysis on retrofits, warranty costs.Works with Spares to help set safety stock levels.Controls expenses within budgetary guidelines. Job Specific Skills: Automation and Controls Engineering experience.Industrial Control Systems, PLC, Drive System, HMI and other related software development. Must have a 2 year Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree with a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position. 7 to 10 years equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education. You must have experience in all of the following phases required documentation, detailed design, generation, implementation, system integration, testing and on-site startup. Experience in the Mining and Metals industry is a plus. You must have excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills. You must be able to demonstrate skills required for gathering, design, configuration, integration and implementation of control solution for the manufacturing industry including PLC/DCS systems, HMI packages, REXX, Microsoft C, Visual Basic, TCP/IP and networking technology. You must be able to exercise initiative, judgment and decision making objectives and be able to maintain confidentiality when processing sensitive information.
