Position Summary :
Success is measured by executing the corporate, plant, and terminal mandates regarding human resources management and development. The Area HR Manager acts as a conduit between the various business disciplines (Manufacturing, Distribution, Sales & Marketing, etc) to ensure that business performance is optimized. The Area HR Manager ensures that all transactional activity for the client groups is complete and accurate, and recommends improvements leading to standardization and the elimination of redundancy.
The incumbent’s activities and time allotment is driven by business need, and not strictly by population.
The AHRM creates value via the following channels;
a) Value as a leader in the selection, retention, and development of world-class talent
b) Value as change agent, balancing the corporate, plant, and terminal mandates to ensure that we comply with the corporate vision
c) Value as an integrated business partner supporting the plant management team
d) Value as a continuous improvement innovator and role model
e) Value as a relationship-builder with a strong internal customer philosophy
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Background :
Candidate must possess a formal education at the minimum level of a bachelor’s degree in H.R. sciences, Business, or the equivalent.
Experience :
A minimum of 5 years of HR generalist and managerial experience, preferably in both union and non-union manufacturing environments.
Candidates must be able to describe the impact of their work on the business success of the company, and how that success integrated with the corporate mandate.
Beyond this, an understanding of regional, national, and world-wide business environment news and trends is seen as an indicator of future career potential in other positions
Highly desirable knowledge, interest, and skills include ISO or similar understanding of elements of standardization; strong HRIS and other database capability; and demonstrated leadership in moving organizations toward world class practices.
Comfort and skill in leading training delivery and prescribing appropriate development initiatives to build leadership competency
