Area Sales Manager, Commercial & Industrial Products - Central US Region
This position is for the Central US region and can be performed from INDIANAPOLIS, CHICAGO, CINCINNATI, or any city between. SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position is accountable to create a demand for and contribute to the achievement of Commercial and Industrial Products quotas within acceptable selling costs. Position will work directly with CCHEP Field Sales and distribution account owners. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Obtain orders on selected, assigned accounts to meet or exceed assigned quotas. 2. Analyze and evaluate the performance of selected distributors taking appropriate actions to increase their sales with the proper level of agent management, as required. 3. Coordinate activities and collaborate with selected distributors to achieve the sales objectives, current and new product quotas, and properly implement sales plans. 4. Assist the Director of Global Sales with the sales activity to secure business where directed. 5. Investigate and report on new product, competitive conditions, and market possibilities in order that immediate action may be taken. 6. Monitor distributor inventories to achieve targeted inventory turns. 7. Develop and conduct training activities with agents, Cooper Crouse-Hinds direct sales teams, distributors and end-users. 8. Coordinate CI sales activities and strategies with the CCH factory directly. 9. Maintain acceptable price/margin levels in territory. NATURE AND SCOPE: This position reports to the Director of Global Industrial and Commercial Product Sales, Cooper Interconnect. This sales position is in Electrical Products, which manufactures electrical products typically used in energy extraction processing, transportation, generation and end use-conduit bodies and expansion/deflection fittings, cable and cord terminators; conduit unions, reducers, elbows, connectors, conduit outlet and switch boxes; junction boxes, cast enclosures for circuit protection devices, switches, motor starters, control devices, instruments; enclosed power and lighting panelboards; enclosed and protected lighting fixtures; heavy-duty electrical plugs, receptacles, connectors. All are in variations suitable for heavy and abusive service applications, and for use in wet, dirty, dusty corrosive, flammable or explosive environments. The responsibility of this position is establishing an effective Commercial and Industrial product base and selling these highly preferred products to End Users, Electrical Contractors, and Engineering Firms in the Heavy Process Industries through distribution and OEM activity. The incumbent performs the sales function in assigned territories or on assigned accounts. (The incumbent is familiar with the territory to include the key specifying and buying influences.) The Commercial Sales Manager will assist the Vice President with the sales activity with agents, major accounts and in the closing of project orders. The incumbent carries out and insures strict adherence of all assigned personnel to the policies, procedures and controls of CC-H. Submits a monthly condition report covering business conditions, the results achieved, deviations from plan and actions indicated. A thorough knowledge of all CC-H’s policies, services and products is necessary. This individual should be fully capable of handling the complete sales function in any sales situation. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB: Engineering degree – Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or Business Administration Degree with Marketing emphasis and a technical interest. Several years experience with key accounts is preferred.
