POSITION SUMMARY:The primary objective for the Area Workers' Compensation Manager will be to mitigate the Company’s cost of workers’ compensation losses by proactively monitoring the execution of claims by third party administrators, gathering necessary information to assist in the claim and litigation management activities, providing support for execution of claims and settlement policy through communication with decision makers, and providing key leadership for claim handling activities of third part administrator for those programs in “run-off”. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily and periodic evaluation and analysis of specific claims to ensure that each claim is being handled in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure that the costs of workers’ compensation claims are mitigated. Perform periodic evaluation of overall claim handling activities handled by third party administrators to ensure that the claim handling activities from a qualitative and quantitative standpoint are effective in achieving the organization’s goal of mitigating the cost of workers’ compensation claims.  In the event that areas of concern are identified, they need to be communicated to the Workers’ Compensation Claim Manager. Support Risk Management Department in the handling of claim administrative issues and responsibilities. Communicate to Workers’ Compensation Claims Manager and Vice President of Risk Management those claims that may result in material cost to the company.  Provide overview of current claim status and key decisions needed to facilitate proper claim resolution strategy and final claim disposition. Review claims to ensure that the organization’s workers’ compensation reserves are adequately established within the appropriate time frame for financial reporting purposes. Attend and/or participate in workers’ compensation claim reviews. Prepare required reports to management, as requested, outlining current claim management activities and status of claims along with claim resolution strategies and/or areas of concern. Some travel expected (10-20%) Excellent oral and written communication skills Flexible nature, the ability to prioritize effectively and the desire to work in a team-oriented environment Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Claims management and claim process skills Experience in workers’ compensation claims Strong PC skills including, but not limited to, knowledge of spreadsheets 4 year college degree with 5+ years experience in a claims department or Associate’s Degree with 5-10 years of experience in a claims department Associate in Claims designation or licensed adjuster designations are recommended Dean Foods Company is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.  M/F/D/V Job Title: Area Workers' Compensation Manager Location: DALLAS, TX 75201 Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: Other Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
