Sunstar Americas, Inc., a leader in the oral care industry and the manufacturer and distributor of the GUM® and Butler® Brands, seeks an experienced Assistant Manager to lead a team of 40 production employees in a fast paced environment.  




The ideal candidate MUST have worked in the injection molding industry and be able to work on 3rd shift.  The candidate we are seeking must possess at least 10 years progressive experience in manufacturing operations and be able to manage direct labor, indirect labor and technical positions.    




Principle Duties:




1. Reviews and coordinates with the Planning department the equipment schedules and staffing levels needed to meet the weekly/monthly production plan.

2. Assigns and prioritizes work for all shifts to run the necessary orders and meet the production plan.

3. Identifies issues and leads hourly teams to improve productivity and quality levels to meet departmental goals. 

4. Assures that adequate vertical and horizontal communication is maintained between shifts and communicates to Manager and others issues, changes, recommendations, and issues related to the areas of responsibility.

5. Controls staffing levels required to meet production needs through coordination with Temporary staffing agencies. 

6. Evaluates direct reports' performance levels and provides formal/informal feedback to employees.

7. Monitors and enters data into the time and attendance/payroll system to assure that employees are paid accordingly.

8. Assures that adequate training is provided for new and existing employees.

9. Monitors that safety practices and procedures as well as company policies are observed.

10. Assures that good housekeeping and manufacturing practices are being followed on the floor during the shift.




Requirements:

• Must have worked in a manufacturing environment

• Must possess:  excellent interpersonal skills, effective team building skills and ability to effectively manage conflict and maintain strong employee relation skills 

• Effective PC Skills required:  Microsoft Office

• Knowledge of ISO 9000, MRPII systems

• Any of the following experiences is a big plus:  Lean Manufacturing, 5S, KANBAN, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM), continuous improvement projects and JIT.

• Bachelors Degree
