Job Title: Assistant Plant Controller

Requisition Number: 161066

Location: Harrodsburg, KY 40330

 

Scope of Position:

- Perform the lead role in monthly closings

- Provide technical expertise on costing and accounting issues

- Assist the plant controller in annual budgeting and forecasting activities

- Lead in maintenance and review of Sarbanes Oxley and audit documentation, including preparation or review of monthly account reconciliations

- Maintain project costing and fixed assets ledger

- Perform monthly spending reviews and quarterly reviews with department heads

- Analyze, summarize, and suggest methods of improvement for income statement, cash flow, and balance sheet issues, such as production variances, costing structure, fixed cost  issues, and sales/margin analysis

- Supervise and lead the department

- Work closely with other department heads within the plant

- Work closely with various Corning Shared Service groups to resolve issues as needed.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

- Generation and in depth analysis of financial and manufacturing cost reports

- Provide various financial analyses for plant controller and senior management (aimed at understanding cost and driving cost reduction)

- Work with the other functional areas to analyze sources of variance and proactively prevent future variances

- Interpret and communicate financial results

- Perform aspects of the plant cost accounting function and implement controls to ensure data integrity. 

 

Travel Requirements: 

Minimal international travel

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 

- This is an exempt position

- Normal hours of work will be Monday – Friday 8-5; however, additional time may be required based on seasonality.

Required Skills:

- Strong working knowledge of General Accounting Principles

- Strong Leadership and Decision making ability

- Solid Analytical and Problem solving skills

- High Level of Integrity

- Strong ability to supervise

- Flexibility to work on a variety of projects at once

- Proficiency in excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc)

 

Desired Skills:

- Working knowledge of inventory and manufacturing/cost accounting

- Strong presentation skills

- Working knowledge of business

- Ability to act effectively under pressure and in a fast paced environment

- Ability to help drive cost reduction across departments

 

Education and Experience:

- 4 year degree in accounting and CPA

- Experience with financial analysis and costing issues
