NMC has an opening for a Buyer/Planner with hands on buying and planning experience in a fast pace environment.  Plastics molding manufacturing experience within an ISO or similar quality system will be a plus. 

 

Job Overview:

Responsible for the procurement of materials, equipment and services, expediting orders, interfacing with internal customers; scheduling shop floor; and managing supply base including but not limited to other duties/tasks assigned on an as-required basis. Ability to manage heavy workload during peak periods and support requirements in a fast/high pace manufacturing environment requiring quick turnarounds. Will negotiate and manage high dollar subcontracts and purchase agreements, assist with coordinating MRP conversion activities, represent Purchasing in internal shortage and other types of meetings on-site suppliers meeting and other assigned special tasks/projects.

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

1.  Purchase resins, finished goods, and components according to customer specifications according to NMC Policies and Procedures.

2.  Source new items to customer specifications according to NMC Policies and Procedures. 

3.  Responsible for scheduling production for all molding machines, secondary and outsourcing, optimizing labor utilization to meet customer due dates per NMC Policies and Procedures.

4.  Evaluate and create work orders for molding, secondary, and packaging in a way that maximizes minimum number of set-ups, while keeping inventory at optimum levels.

5.  Responsible for inventory control per NMC Policies and Procedures.

6.  Responsible for issuing, entering and maintaining inventory part numbers in IQMS per NMC Policies and Procedures.

7.  Responsible for logistic operations, negotiating with UPS and LTL carriers and obtaining competitive freight costs/contracts.

8.  Responsible for maintaining optimum material flow in warehouse.

9.  Adherence to NMC Safety, Housekeeping, and Attendance policies.

10.  Work as directed.

 

 

Skill & Knowledge:

·  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and database ERP business system.

·  Position requires an individual with retentive memory; ability to reason and analyze.

·  Be self-reliant and proactive in problem solving.

·  Ability to prioritize, manage workload effectively and multi-task.

·  Two to five years experience in Buyer/Planner position.

·  Excellent verbal and written skills required.

·  Bi-lingual in Spanish will be helpful.
