Bakery Line Operator

Set-up and operates production line equipment to include mixer, oven, cooling and packaging equipment; inspects, packs and palletizes finished products in accordance with standard procedures; and continuously monitors work activities to ensure results meet quality, production and safety goals.  May rotate through each station daily.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

·         Sets up and starts all machines, checking all controls for adherence to mixing/extruding procedures.

·         Weighs ingredient to meet recipe specification and inserts into mixer. Ensures the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area.

·         Operates machinery to mix/extrude the ingredients according to procedures.

·         Continually monitors equipment and product moving through line to ensure quality, production and safety goals are met.

·         Refers issues/problems to lead/supervisor for disposition.

·         Packs product in boxes and loads packed products onto pallets.

·         Disassembles and sanitizes equipment at closeout of products; washes parts and machinery with water and cleansing/sanitizing agents; dries as necessary.

·         Completes and maintains all required ERP documentation.

·         Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion, using rags, broom and dustpan as appropriate.

·         Provides training on mixing processes/procedures to new employees as needed.

·         Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

A High School diploma or its equivalent is preferred.

Certification:

May require obtainment of a Fork Lift Operator's License.

Experience:

Minimum 1-2 years manufacturing experience.  Bakery or food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.  Experience with GMPs, food safety and sanitation guidelines also preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Requires:

·         Manual dexterity to manipulate filling and labeling equipment controls, small production containers on a production line, and hand tools to assemble/disassemble parts of equipment

·         Ability to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, standard operating procedures regarding good manufacturing practices, packaging standards for correct product count and labels to ensure correct one is being used; read maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications

·         Mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.

·         Ability to reason and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

·         Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools, scales, spatula, barrel cart, hand trucks, fork lift, utility knife, and mixer/blender machinery and computer equipment

·         Ability to communicate in English with supervisors and co-workers, and receive and follow verbal instructions.

·         Versatility and ability to work different equipment throughout the day.
