Buyer - Manufacturing

We currently have an opening within our Purchasing/Material Control department for a Buyer of Manufacturing materials & products. If you possess the necessary qualifications and are interested in the position, please submit your resume with salary range requirements for consideration.

 

Key Characteristics: Work assignments require some degree of originality. General familiarity with the activities of all of the departments required. Must be able to maintain effective relationships with vendors and internal departmental personnel. Able to coordinate multiple projects in a highly effective manner to achieve Purchasing/Material Control departmental goals.

 



Key Responsibilities: Purchase materials or other goods and coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising for organization. Review requisitions. Interview and confer with vendors to obtain product or service information. Select products for purchase by testing, observing or examining items. Estimate values according to knowledge of market price. Determine method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid. Prepare purchase orders or bid requests. Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintain manual or computerized procurement records. Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and taking corrective action. Expedite orders when necessary to get them back on schedule. Track purchase orders to their due dates to maintain on-schedule flow. Coordinate with the Planner to have material arrive for work orders to be released in the next 3-7 days. Change release and due dates as needed to ensure all open PO report dates are current/valid. Administer the cycle count process Assist other department members when necessary
