Buyer/Planner

Atlas Copco Drilling Solutions is responsible for the R&D, manufacturing and marketing of a wide range of rotary drilling equipment for surface mining, deephole drilling, civil construction, waterwell, aggregate/quarry, and oil and gas markets around the world. ACDS employs about 1000 people worldwide. ACDS has it’s headquarter and main production site in Garland, Texas, USA.  We have an immediate opening for a Buyer/Planner.

 

Position Objective

 

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for balancing supply with demand of all assigned inventory items while taking into consideration both transportation and inventory carrying costs.

Each Buyer/planner is responsible for 1400 to 4900 unique items.  Each Buyer/Planner ensures that all parts in inventory as needed.   Primary Responsibilities

 

·         Review MRP output daily to balance supply with demand for all assigned items

·         Place purchase orders with pre-selected suppliers. Communicate all non-quoted requirements to Commodity Managers within the Strategic Sourcing Group

·         Provide accurate and timely promise dates for all assigned inventory items

·         Communicate priorities to both suppliers and internal customers

·         Disposition and eliminate obsolete and slow moving inventory

·         Maintain relevant data elements including lead time, order policy, safety stock and other planning parameters

·         Maintain open and effective communications with all internal customers regarding supply problems and resolution actions

·         Maintain data within the purchasing systems to allow accurate supplier performance measurement

·         Maintain desired inventory levels while ensuring maximum inventory turns

·         Work with supply base to support SMI and Kanban inventories

·         Communicate with suppliers to develop streamlined purchasing processes and communication lanes

·         Disposition rejected material within 3 working days

·         Maintain interdepartmental communications to ensure inventory on hand balance accuracy

    

 Experience/Education

 ·         Three -Five years of related experience preferred·         Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field·         APICS Certification preferred

·         Basic knowledge of ERP

·         Basic knowledge of MFG Pro preferred

 

 

Problem Solving

 

React to Marketing and Aftermarket immediate demands, customer changes, on hand balance changes and engineering changes. Finds alternate means of sourcing when necessary.

 ·         Must be highly creative and flexible and have strong communication skills·         Should be able to easily start and carry projects to completion·         Must be a self-starter, willing to ask for or acquire resources as demanded by tasks

·         Must be able to work in a loosely structured environment with minimum supervision
