Buyer Planner Logistics Analyst

MSA (Mine Safety Appliances Company) is the global leader in the development, manufacture, and supply of sophisticated safety products, instruments, and services that protect people’s health, safety, and the environment.  Our company has an immediate need for a Buyer Planner/Logistics Analyst at our Cranberry Township facility.

This position reports to the Materials Manager of NA Industrial Finished Goods. The primary responsibilities of this role are to create and manage the demand plan that drives inventory requirements to manufacturing plants or suppliers allowing us to meet our customer’s delivery requirements, while optimizing the transportation of goods.

· Procure material from suppliers by negotiating price, quantity and delivery of material to ensure a quality product is delivered to MSA to meet on time delivery to our customers.

· Efficiently manage the overall movement of freight for NA Finished Goods, where costs and service are optimized.

· Procure material from manufacturing plants and direct third party provider through good supply chain management techniques to maintain target levels of inventory to meet customer demand while efficiently utilizing the inventory.

· Develop forecast with Marketing and/or reviewing point-of-use sales data acquired from the customers to drive on-time delivery of product to the customer while maximizing effective utilization of the inventory.

· Participate on NPD Teams as it relates to the procurement of product and stocking of material at the Industrial Finished Goods locations to meet customer delivery.

· Expedite or defer material with the manufacturing plant or supplier to meet unforeseen changes in demand to maintain on time delivery to the customer and efficient utilization of inventory.

· Establish materials to be stocked at the Industrial Finished Goods location working with Marketing, Sales, and Operations and analyzing information in SAP.

· Regularly review the material master, on time delivery, inventory and Demand Solutions to ensure the system is operating efficiently.

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

· Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills,

· Strong organizational skills and interpersonal relationship skills,

· Proven analytical training and associated skills including working with relational databases,

· Demonstrated ability to take the lead to drive change and process improvement,

· Proficient in the use of Excel and Word.

Preferred:

· Access and Powerpoint

Education and experience required:

· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field.

· Minimum of 4 years of planning, transportation, logistics and/or purchasing experience.

Preferred:

· CPIM or CPM accreditation
