Buyer - Raw Materials

GrafTech International Holdings Inc. is one of the world's leading manufacturers of carbon and graphite products for industrial applications in a diverse array of industries: metal production, electronics, chemicals, aerospace and transportation, among others.  We operate in 11 state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities strategically located on four continents with our corporate headquarters located in Cleveland (Parma), OH.  We sell to customers in about 80 countries worldwide.

 

We have an immediate opening in our corporate headquarters for a Buyer in our Global Raw Materials Purchasing Department. 

 

Responsibilities include:

· Procurement of raw materials and distribution services from the Global Suppliers for the Graftech group

· Support strategic sourcing efforts related to new businesses and strategies

· Processing of transactions in an integrated ERP system.

· Negotiating supply and purchasing of all services and goods required in support of the centralized raw material procurement operations

· Follow up on Raw Material shipments to the Graftech affiliates and on internal movements between various Warehouses

· Create sales order to affiliates for domestic requirements as well as transfer orders for export related requirements

· Maintains up to date freight cost in the ERP system, reviews payments and ensure accurate processing of all logistics cost

· Resolves invoice variances with suppliers an internal stake holders

· First point of contact for supplier enquiries

· Serve as interface between suppliers and accounts payable Shared Service Centre.

· Ensure that all transactions are processed in accordance with Company Procedures and meet Sarbanes Oxley requirements

· Update Raw Material supply cost, maintain transportation rates and routes and constantly update reselling prices for domestic markets

· Reconcile inventories and perform necessary adjustments after each shipment

· Operate as communication  link between corporate suppliers and Graftech users

· Prepare special payment requests for emergency payments

 

A Qualified candidate for this position will have:

· Commercial Diploma/degree

· At least 5 years applicable experience in a global purchasing and import/export environment

· Sound knowledge of import/export and accounting

· International Logistics experience, with emphasis on ocean freight, customs and clearance operations, shipping documents etc.

· Ability to analyze and interpreted huge volumes of information accurately and rapidly

· Attention to detail

· Computer literate with sound working knowledge of MS Office and ERP Systems (SAP, JDEDWARDS)

· Fluency in English, a working knowledge of French, German, Spanish or Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) and other languages is an asset

· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

· Good organizational skills
