Buyers

Large multinational company in Northern NJ is looking for 3 Buyers to purchase materials, parts, equipment, and supplies.  Negotiates prices, terms and conditions for all assigned purchased materials.Issues change notices and approves invoices.Analyzes and interprets industry conditions and advancements which may have an effect on design, lead times, cost or marketing; and furnishes the information to team members and other departments as appropriate.Analyzes supplier performance to insure quality and compliance.Obtains advance knowledge of material and specification requirements for new products and takes necessary action to assure their availability when needed.Decides on appropriate supplier(s) & negotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.Establishes relations and communications with suppliers required for free flow of information concerning new developments, designs, materials, market trends and lead time.Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.Coordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute commodity in a cost effective manner.Authorizes payment of invoices or return of merchandise as appropriateTracks vendor performance for correct quality, pricing, and delivery.Makes vendor visits to assist in quality audits.

Education:  Bachelor's degree required.  Masters degree in Supply Chain Management highly preferred.

Experience:  3 to 5 years experience in Purchasing/Production Control. Requires knowledge of corporate purchasing interfaces, motivational and training techniques, and contracts and business agreements.  Position level commensurate with experience.
