CORPORATE PURCHASING MANAGER

Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff) Education Level: Some College Coursework Completed Contact Information Reference Code: 1802 Job Description CORPORATE PURCHASING MANAGER As Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to plant purchasing and new product introduction (NPI) operations in California, Illinois, Rhode Island and Mexico to assure continuity of supply, continued growth, and profitability.  You will manage the tactical day-to-day purchasing departments and direct the purchasing function in a proactive manner.  The ideal candidate will have expertise in multiple site global strategic purchasing and supply chain management including strategic planning, inventory control, cost management, lean supply, policy setting and training.  Responsibilities:   § Establish and manage a supply chain buying team leveraging best practices that will achieve organizational goals by managing and optimizing supplier performance. § Manage and execute day-to-day purchasing to support manufacturing and NPI operations while maintaining desired levels of inventory and minimizing costs. § Manage Purchasing Supervisor at each PEP location to meet and exceed company objectives. § Interview, hire and train all direct reports. § Develop strong working relationship with PEP Strategic Sourcing Manager to align Supply Chain goals and objectives.  § Establish and maintain relationships with vendors or prospective vendors in order to enhance the performance and reputation of the company and to identify new sources of supply for purchased materials. § Assure the purchase of materials at the best price from reliable sources, consistent with established standards for quality, quantity, and other organizational requirements of the business. § Negotiate with and influence suppliers to improve timeliness of delivery, lead times, pricing, terms and service to ensure leanest total cost of ownership. § Develop and recommend organizational purchasing strategies to ensure operational efficiencies and increased customer service levels. § Resolve major/systemic purchasing issues affecting order management and supply chain performance. § Facilitate implementation of contracts with suppliers to ensure flexibility in pricing and production schedules. § Facilitate alignment with sales on forecasts to better predict demand. § Assure accurate measurement and reporting of vendor performance. § Support commodity team with contract negotiation, cost reduction, lead time reduction and supplier consolidation projects as necessary. § Perform special projects and other duties as assigned. § Demonstrate competency in decision-making, flexibility, planning and organizing, self-initiative and interpersonal skills. § 4 year degree strongly preferred (supply chain management, business or related field). § Demonstrated experience in leading and managing multiple direct reports. § 3-5 years of remote personnel management strongly preferred. § Minimum 7 years experience in purchasing/supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment. § Proven experience managing global suppliers, reducing costs, controlling inventory, and standardizing supply chain policies and procedures. § JD Edwards or similar ERP systems experience. § Strong interpersonal and communication skills. § Demonstrated ability to perform in fast paced dynamic environment. § Ability to solve problems, multitask and be a hands-on manager. § LEAN supply chain experience strongly preferred § Up to 75% travel required.
