Chief Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY: The Chief Engineer is an expert on the product, its markets and customers and it’s manufacturing processes, responsible for leading a variety of projects (i.e.: product development, cost reduction, localization), supporting Engineered to Order activities (i.e.: product designs, process automation), and providing technical support to cross-functional areas of the business.  The Chief Engineer must work with their respective Global Product Manager to develop business strategies and product roadmaps.       PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:   ·  Provide products and solutions that meet or exceed the needs of customer specifications.   ·  Support and/or lead efforts to reduce the number o f customer, complaints via 8D methodologies and focus on redesign activities to incorporate DFM benefits.   ·  Ability to integrate various technologies regarding transformer design, fluids, components, and power systems.   ·  Accountable for driving process improvements focused on increased engineering productivity.   ·  Accountable for driving projects on schedule to enhance vitality and profitability by using D-MVP methodologies   ·  Mentor and educate employees on the principles and techniques of project management, design automation, and productivity improvements. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:   ·  Assist in institutionalization of quality, robustness and continuous improvement.   ·  Cross-functional leadership of product development projects using the DMEDI tollgate process.   ·  Work with D-MVP team to facilitate setting priorities, developing goals, and designing objectives related to corporate goals and objectives       MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   ·  BS in Mechanical or Electrical engineering   ·  7-10 years of experience working in electrical power industry with ETO – 5+ years will be considered   ·  5-7 demonstrated experience project management   ·  2-3 years in supervision   ·  Lean/Six Sigma-Black Belt preferred   ·  Continuous improvement and product design/development       COOPER POWER SYSTEMS is the leading provider of electrical distribution solutions that deliver power to communities and industries worldwide.  Our products protect, connect, and improve the entire power system for better safety and more reliable energy delivery every day.
