Hach Company is seeking an Compliance Engineer who will provide both product testing and technical assistance as well research of and guidance on Regulatory issues to Production and Product Development teams throughout product development and life cycles at its Loveland, Colorado location.
Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Compliance Engineering Supervisor, the Compliance Engineer will primarily work for the Sr. Compliance engineers and with the Compliance technicians. Duties will include providing both product Safety testing and technical assistance and guidance on Regulatory and Safety issues to Production and Product Development teams throughout product development and life cycles.
Key Responsibilities
· Primarily product safety testing and certification
· Write reports, test procedures and manage documentation
· Product design guidance and assistance to internal and external customers.
· Develop test procedures for new compliance standards.
· Product submittals to certification /regulatory agencies (NRTL, NSF, CDRH, FDA, ATEX, etc.)
· Review and sign-off of ECO’s for compliant products and determine impact on product compliance.
· Provide compliance training assistance as required, for Hach internal and external customers.
· Monitor regulatory standards activities and assist in developing plans to comply with changes in standards.
· Provide assistance on implementation of new safety tests as directed.
Measures of Performance
· Quantifiable success against compliance performance goals, established schedules and ability to perform compliance related testing.
Desired Background and Skill Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (2-4 years minimum engineering experience)
· Knowledge of general safety standards, (e.g. 61010-1 or 60950 safety, laser, enclosure IP/NEMA)
· Must have good understanding of basic AC/DC circuit theory (higher math “e.g. calculus” and analogue & digital electronic design experience a plus)
· Understanding of CE regulations and standards (ATEX, EMC, L-Voltage, & Pressurized Vessels Directives)
· Knowledge of and ability to use test equipment (safety related test equipment a plus)
· Familiarity with agency certifications, UL, CSA, FDA, CDRH, NSF, etc. (hazardous locations agency “FM, ATEX” test and design experience a plus)
· Knowledge of and ability to use PC software tools (word processors, spread sheets, project management), and English vocabulary and grammar.
· Technical report writing skills is a must
· Second language (e.g. German, French, or Spanish) a plus
· Technical certifications such as NARTE is a plus
