Manufacturing/Production/Operations Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Location: US-NY-Rochester Status: Full Time, Employee Relevant Work Experience: 5+ to 7 Years Job Description Computer Numerical Control Equipment Operator Sets up and operates CNC machine tools, such as grinder, lathe, and milling machine, to machine rollers and parts to specifications. Writes, edits, or interprets numerical control programs. Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to visualize grinding to be done, plan sequence of operations, determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates, according to knowledge of machine shop processes, part specifications, and machine capabilities. Grinds nonmetallic materials, such as silicone rubber and plastics. Verifies dimensions of ground work piece, using micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, optical comparator, and automated laser instrumentation. Selects grinding wheel, according to knowledge of metal properties and abrasives, and mounts wheel on spindle. Dresses wheel manually or with preset dressing device. Moves controls and reads dials to set rotation speeds and feed rates. Positions and tightens stops or cams to limit travel of work piece or wheel. Moves controls to feed grinding wheel to work piece manually or automatically, controls and directs flow of coolant against wheel and work piece. Performs routine maintenance tasks on CNC lathes and grinders. Fabricates unique tooling for grinding of new and prototype parts. Required Skills: Must understand CNC (C and M Codes) and have demonstrated capability to program CNC equipment. Print reading and GD&T, ability to select and implement proper tooling CAD / AutoCAD Knowledgeable with insert tooling and tool offset adjustment Specific experience with Capco grinders required Experience with Okuma grinders and Mazak lathes desirable. High School diploma CNC programming Machine Math 5+ years experience as a CNC equipment operator Safety first attitude Quality oriented Team player
