Altec Industries thrives with talented and high-energy associates working in a team environment. There is an immediate need for a Computer Support Specialist – PC Analyst in Birmingham, Alabama. The successful candidate will serve as the information technology expert for an entire facility and represent corporate Information Technology department at the facility.

 

Duties will include but are not limited to: Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software and peripheral equipment; coordinate major hardware or software problems or defective products with vendors or technicians for service. Prepare evaluations of software or hardware and recommend improvements or upgrades, including budgeting and forecastingDevelop training materials and procedures and/or train users in the proper use of hardware and software.Respond in person, via telephone or from remote location to Helpdesks for users’ problem reports regarding computer software and hardware operation. Coordinates uptime requirements and schedules between multiple departmentsSupport engineering staff on high-end CAD workstations and software systemsAdminister campus phone system for additions, changes and deletions. Supports local facility’s wireless phone units and related purchasing.

 

Basic qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate’s degree or equivalent work experience required2+ years experience in a technical support role requiredStrong verbal and written communication skills requiredTask management skills, including the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple concurrent requests required
