Credit Manager

PPG Industries, an $11 billion leading producer of coatings, glass, chemicals, and fiberglass is seeking talented people for a Credit Representative position within the architectural Coatings credit department at our McCandless location just north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.


The Credit Manager supervises the credit function for the U.S. Architectural Coatings Stores business.
Specific responsibilities include :
• Supervision of direct reports
• Administering the Credit function and ensure that the Receivable investment policies and practices are effectively enforced for Architectural Stores accounts.
• Interacting with a wide variety of internal and external individuals in order to: Contribute to the profitability of the corporation by implementing optimum credit limits; developing effective account relationships and developing effective credit strategies.
• Maintaining direct and effective contact with all customers as well as all levels of Management to foster a successful team relationship
• Evaluating new and existing customers and contribute to their success by utilizing special financial arrangements credit counseling and customer visitations
• Working closely with business management to develop and recommend appropriate strategies for managing high-risk and high exposure accounts.
• Developing strategies for minimizing exposure for those customers determined to be bad debt risks. When necessary, determine the effect of such customers on the bad debt reserves. Also, work in conjunction with collection group to recommend write-off of those transactions deemed to be uncollectible.

Additional requirements include:
? Ability to coach others and develop their knowledge and skills.
? Ability to effectively analyze various types of financial information and reach sound conclusions
? Ability to effectively communicate and interact with customers and all levels of the business unit management to achieve the best possible results
? Ability to lead and conduct financial and credit related meetings with SBU management and external customers
? Complete understanding and working knowledge of special financial instruments such as security agreements, third-party guarantees, promissory notes, letters of credit in order to perfect the appropriate financial arrangement (desired)
? Working knowledge of Oracle Receivables and various other credit/receivable software (desired)
? Working knowledge of MS Office

The successful candidate should posses a bachelors degree in finance, accounting or related business or equivalent experience and have at least 3 years of financial and/or credit experience.
