Fortune 500 company in Columbus OH seeks a Director of International Transportation. For this multi billion dollar corporation. Job Description: The ideal candidate will have the following:

 Monitor current International transportation market conditions, technology, and market challenges. Develop, implement and communicate tactical and strategic transportation plans. Lead the development of global transportation strategies to minimize the cost while exceeding customer service goals. Lead global transportation sourcing and selection initiatives. Work customers and suppliers to develop business cases to promote best practices, optimize opportunities and identify new alternatives to improve overall transportation performance. Collaborate with regional transportation leaders to implement a world-class transportation network & system. Work with local transportation and finance managers to develop policies and metrics that ensure cost effective processes and compliance to established policy. The individual must have a thorough understanding of how to manage risks, reduce costs and cycle time and how to provide information to various internal customers about the flow of merchandise. The individual must have a proven record in developing and motivating staff or associates across multiple cultures. Develops the transportation analysis function to fully utilize real-time fact based Develop strategic alliances with significant transportation customers and freight carriers.



Experience and Skills:

 Directs and oversees the company’s International Transportation strategy to ensure delivery deadlines in the US, Europe and Asia while providing complete information about product location.

 Develops policies related to procurement of services to support the business.  Familiarity with a wide variety of supply chain concepts, practices and procedures.  Relies on expertise and experience to make recommendations and to plan and accomplish goals.

 

 


Qualification Requirements:

  Minimum of 10 years of Transportation Management experience.
 

  Minimum 4 year college degree in Business Management, Transportation and Logistics, or related field MBA preferred.
 

  Strong relationship management and negotiating skills.
 

  In-depth understanding of domestic and international transportation modes, capabilities and practices.

  Advanced knowledge of administrative, governmental and organizational dynamics required operating an efficient global transportation network, while complying with global customs regulations.
 

  Comprehensive knowledge of the retail sales channel. Previous leadership of significant global transportation spend. Literate in basic Supply Chain software applications
 

 

  Experience in influencing change in a large global organization.
 

  Global business experience and ability to communicate and work effectively with global teams is required, including leading global teams and delivered measurable results.
 

  Strong supplier and applicable industry knowledge.
 

  Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
 

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
