Department Supervisor - Owings Mills

Supervises production employees by planning and assigning work, adjusting schedules to meet production requirements, analyzing and resolving work problems, inspecting materials to verify conformance with standards. Responsible for or participates in interviewing, corrective action, terminations, performance reviews and wage changes of employees in their department. This is a 3rd shift position (11:00pm-7:00am). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises the quality and quantity of product being produced by employees. Studies production schedules and estimates hour requirements for completion of job assignments.  Establishes or adjust work procedures to meet production. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.  Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists staff in solving problems. Maintains production records and ensures production workers are completing records correctly and timely. Writes and issues Standard Operating Procedures.  Interprets company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations and procedures. In absence of higher management, determines when equipment should be shut down and manages emergency and life threatening situations.  Determines course of action. Manages, evaluates and trains staff by coaching, conducting performance appraisals, administering discipline, training and development by on-the-job programs and appropriate off-the-job programs.  Analyzes and recommends manpower requirements, recommends qualifications and individuals for hire. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Performs activities of workers supervised and assists with changeover or set-up. Keeps general work area clean.  Coordinates work of outside vendors.  * Will perform other duties as assigned. BS degree in Management Science.  3 – 5 years manufacturing experience. Ability to work with individuals or groups, plans, organizes and prioritizes workload.  Strong communication, leadership and organizational skills.  Basic mechanical aptitude and math skills.
