Munchkin is currently seeking a Design Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated project within the Product Development Department. This position is responsible for taking products from concept through production under aggressive timelines.  Must possess some knowledge of molding, plastics, soft goods and printing basics and have a strong focus on the design, aesthetic elements and manufacturability of products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

 

Participates in creation of concept research product definition: customer needs, idea generation, feasibility, specifications, concept visions and models in a team environment. 

 

Evaluates current and proposed products based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, production costs and specifications.

 

Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project. Evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the product and relays this information internally and to overseas operations

 

Directs and coordinates activities of project staff . 

   

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in industrial or mechanical design/engineering is desired from four-year college or university; or at least 5 - 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must possess some knowledge of molding, plastics, soft goods (not required but a plus) and printing basics and have a strong focus on the design, aesthetic elements and manufacturability of products.
