The company has operations in about 20 countries and markets products in approximately 60 countries.Job Responsibilities: Ensure that AMO’s global logistics network, logistics partners, logistics processes, and associated capabilities are efficient and effective as possible to meet the business requirements Drive best practice process and capabilities across the organization and has a mindset of operational excellence Rigorously measures all Freight & Distribution partners performance using near real time data and performance against key metrics, analyzing root cause for issues, and implementing sustainable solutions Plans, organizes and directs the Freight & Distribution functions on a global basis leveraging the 4 Regional F&D Directors/Managers Responsible for all inbound/outbound transportation (air, sea, land); works with required functions (engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, strategic sourcing, trade compliance) to understand transportation requirements by product/region to effectively bid, evaluate, and select transportation partners that provide AMO with the best solution of cost & performance on a global & regional level Responsible for all AMO distribution centers (3rd party or AMO operated); works with required functions (engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, strategic sourcing, IT, etc.) to understand distribution requirements by product/region to effectively bid, evaluate, and select distribution center partners that provide AMO with the best solution of cost & performance on a global & regional level Ensures accurate inventory control including cycle count programs, timely receipt & distribution of product to meet market demand, and ensures best practice inventory management processes in all distribution centers Works with 3rd Party Distribution Centers to ensure best practice distribution practices, leveraging technology, to ensure efficient and effective processes and capabilities; challenges 3rd parties to improve productivity on a regular basis with continuous improvement (lean) and breakthrough (six sigma) changes Collaborates with Global Customer Service, Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing Plants, Trade Compliance and SBU’s to ensure that customer, business, and regulatory requirements are being addressed and met efficiently & effectively Work collaboratively with Global Trade Compliance to ensure compliance with all import and export policies, laws and regulations; Act as liaison with Global Trade Compliance & Legal (as well as government agencies) for preparation of service agreements and to respond to inquiries; Review regulatory changes that may affect the business and initiate process changes as required; Preparation and monitoring of Certificates of Origin, Manufacturer’s Affidavits and other import/export documents; Ensure compliance with C-TPAT, ISA, AEO and FTZ requirements; Coordinate the submission of U.S. reconciliation import entries. Collaborates with Global Planning functions to ensure proper communication on projected product volumes, scheduling, routes, etc., to ensure adequate global network, freight & distribution coverage with 3rd party partners Responsible for accurately forecasting logistics requirements & costs on a SBU, Region, DC, Transportation Mode and product line basis working with Finance, Global Supply Chain and Logistics partners utilizing bottom up model and tops down trend Responsible to ensure the global Distribution network is analyzed periodically to ensure that it provides the best possible support for the business at the lowest overall cost.  Benchmarking of distribution network and logistics cost is done periodically to understand competitive advantages/disadvantages and to drive change through best practices Conducts PBR (Periodic Business Reviews) with all Freight & Distribution partners to establish strong relationships, drive performance improvements, establish best practice processes and manage all logistics costs Manages all third party transportation billing companies to ensure accurate invoicing of provided services and to leverage reporting for improvement efforts Responsible for participating in special customer projects related to freight & distribution partners which could include kitting, over-labeling, etc.Education: ·  BA/BS Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations required·  MBA preferred Basic Qualifications:·  10 or more years of progressive, logistics leadership experience in Logistics with an international scope. ·  Experience in a multi-modal logistics environment with ability to tailor network/flow to meet the business requirements, such as cross-docking·  Candidates must be able to demonstrate proficiency in US customs regulations and other government agency regulations and must have excellent knowledge of U.S. Government Import and Export Compliance processes and Regulations, including knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification rules and valuation laws. ·  A proven track record of leadership and performance in the management of a high caliber logistics team. ·  A licensed U.S. Customs Broker is preferred·  Experience with Free Trade Agreements is preferred·  Experience with Bonded Warehouses, managing value added distribution, setting Inco Terms, etc. is preferred·  Ability to work with SAP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Advanced Medical Optics offers a competitive salary and generous benefits package.
