Job Category: Human Resources Job Description Job Description: Tyco Flow Control is a $4+ billion global segment within Tyco International and is the largest manufacturer of valves, actuators, heat-tracing products and associated flow control products in the world serving the oil and gas, chemical, power generation, petrochemical, waterworks, pulp and paper, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and specialty markets. Bringing together the world's premier manufacturers of flow control products, we feature over 90 brands, and offer a level of expertise that is second-to-none in providing innovative solutions to the most challenging flow control applications. Approximately 75% of the segment's revenues are generated internationally. Regional headquarters are located in Paris, Sydney, Houston, Shanghai and the San Francisco area.The Director, Human Resources reports directly to the VP HR for Tyco Flow Control, and has a dotted line relationship to functional vice presidents within the business segment. The incumbent will work closely with the global Flow Control HR leadership team, as well as the Vice President of Compensation and the Vice President of Benefits for Tyco International.RESPONSIBILITIESThe Director Human Resources has responsibility in two specific practice areas: 1) generalist responsibilities for the Operations, Op Ex and Sourcing functions and 2) global coordination of compensation programs.Generalist responsibilities include partnering in the areas of organizational development and effectiveness, staffing, diversity, talent development and management, succession planning, training, employee and labor relations.Compensation responsibilities include the oversight of the organization's compensation program planning and administration including base, incentive compensation and equity programs.Specific responsibilities include: - Partnering with the regional and corporate HR leaders to coordinate and implement effective and efficient compensation planning, monitoring and reporting systems using existing tools and techniques, as well as creating new processes. Ensure compliance with all Tyco compensation policies and practices. - Build strong relationships with Tyco International compensation staff and Flow Control HR and line organizations.- Coordinate and ensure the effectiveness of performance-based rewards strategies and competitive and cost-effective benefit programs to support the culture and standards envisioned by the company's leadership and that truly recognize contribution across the company. - Develop and implement actionable plans and programs to insure the company's workforce at all levels is reflective of its commitment to diversity. - Establish personal credibility with the team through a deep understanding of the business and strategic levers which will facilitate high-impact consulting with the leaders of the organization. - Lead HRIS projects and programs as defined by Tyco International.Requirements: Education/CertificationsAn undergraduate degree is required; a Master's in a related field is desirable. Professional Qualifications- Seasoned Human Resources leader working in a center-led, rather than centralized, global organization and will have comprehensive compensation expertise, as well as demonstrated HR generalist experience.- 15+ years of human resources experience with 5+ years experience as a generalist (staffing, employee relations, organization effectiveness and diversity) and at least 5+ years in a functional compensation role.- Ability to form consensus, and work with a diverse group of individuals at all professional levels including senior leadership. - Proven capability in project management (preferably multi-country) and organization skills, along with excellent oral, written, and group presentation skills is required.- Demonstrated ability to counsel and exhibit credibility with senior management on human resources issues. Ability to project a confident leadership image to management, peers and subordinates.- Ability to develop and manage a number of programs/projects simultaneously, set priorities and communicate needs within a team environment. Ability to be hands-on as well as strategic. A team player who can lead by example, with high accountability for his/her actions.The successful candidate should demonstrate competence in the following areas:- Strategic Agility--Has a broad perspective and can assist in developing, as a leader within Tyco Flow Control, the HR strategic plan for the organization as well as have the tactical perspective to lead the implementation and interpretation at the local level.- Leadership--Is widely seen as a credible, trusted leader who provides direction, leads courageously, influences and motivates others and acts as a catalyst for change.- Business Acumen--Understands the industries in which the organization competes; awareness of how external and internal forces impact the organization; possesses general knowledge and understanding of business functions such as Operations, Op Ex, Sourcing, Finance, Sales & Marketing, Law and IT.- Customer Service--Works with P&L leaders, as well as their HR leaders, to understand and meet their expectations for HR and balances that with implementing HR best practices and corporate initiatives.- Communication--The ability to convey information in a thorough, clear, and timely manner which supports information sharing and goal achievement.- Bias for Action--Drives results and success, conveys a sense of urgency; drives issues to closure and persists despite obstacles and opposition.- Teamwork--Thinks in a collaborative and coalition-driven fashion; develops broad, cooperative relationships with diverse groups and individuals even when having no direct authority over them.
