This exciting integration has created a need for a Director of Information Technology to manage IT on behalf of the Paints U.S. Business Unit (BU) headquartered in Strongsville, OH.Responsibilities: Formulating and implementing the BU IT policies and strategy, Ensuring that the BU requirements are embedded in the Akzo Nobel IT strategy, Expressing the BU requirements for shared services and managing their overall demand, Working with the CIO, Corporate IT Functions, and other BU Information Managers to ensure that the Akzo Nobel IT strategy is successfully implemented. Represents the BU in the broadest sense of IT functional accountability in close cooperation with BU management to ensure full their support Translates BU business objectives into short and long term BU IT strategies Ensures that BU requirements are appropriately reflected in the overall Akzo Nobel IT strategy, and enforces BU compliance to that strategy Develops IT plans underpinning these IT strategies through a structured demand planning process Implements the developed IT plans through a formal program of work using agreed Project Management techniques that encompass the full life cycle of solutions Represents the BU in the relevant functional platforms of Akzo Nobel by Ensuring that the relevant business objectives are taken into account Informing the BU on relevant developments within these functional platforms Safeguarding that the BU has an optimal IM policy meeting the requirements set by the functional platforms in the most effective way Providing updates regarding relevant risks, opportunities and threats Enhances inter-BU synergies through maximising the uptake of Akzo Nobel Global Shared Services (GSS) and common IT projects Work with GSS and with relevant third-party service providers to drive down costs and streamline support processes Review service delivery key performance indicators with GSS and relevant third-party service providers as per agreed service level agreements and address issues where necessary Drive functional and process excellence into all BU IT projects and organisations Provide a framework for IT resources to develop functional and technical skills. This includes acting as a coach, guide or mentor where appropriate, and providing timely performance feedback to direct reports. Work with internal and external audit teams to assess compliance with IT policies and management guidelines; this includes recurring 'In Control' testing and compliance.REQUIREMENTS: B.S. degree in Information Management required, MBA preferred SAP environment experience a must Several years of proven business experience in combination with at least 10 years of practical experience with managing IT in international organisations Conceptual thinker and translator of concepts into practical implementation plans Good understanding of the business opportunities offered and the threats posed by IT Working knowledge of IT, particularly its potential business applications Proven project management skills Excellent interpersonal/communication skills Proactive attitude Right qualifications and skills to represent the BU in the relevant functional platforms at Akzo Nobel level We are able to offer our employees a competitive salary and benefits package that includes medical, dental, 401K, and bonus opportunity.
