The primary function of this position is to direct the import, export, and customs related activities of Intermatic, Inc. This includes but is not limited to managing customs brokers, creating & administering compliance policies, correct application of the product classification system, monitor/audit all documentation, record keeping as mandated, country of origin determination and duty drawback. The position is also responsible for directing all aspects of Intermatic’s relationship with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regarding import, export and customs regulations. The incumbent shall also provide key insights and make recommendations for business planning purposes regarding use of Free Trade Agreements and Intermatic’s execution of all aspects of US and foreign trade compliance.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct daily activity of the import and export department.Training and developing of in-house staff.Manage Customs brokers to ensure compliance, accuracy of entries and accuracy of billing.Administer procedures to test compliance processes.Conduct quarterly transaction testing/audits to ensure customs compliance.Act as the main point of contact with customs and when appropriate, outside counsel.Administer the HTSUS tariff classification system.Administer procedures relative to the valuation of merchandise including assists, royalties and the annual Mexico/China Reconciliation.Administer record keeping system to ensure all documentation is properly filed and maintained to serve as a basis for regulatory compliance as well as to ensure eligibility for Free Trade and reduced duty programs, including NAFTA, 9801, 9802 and GSP if applicable.Complete resolution of management reports, daily.Ensure that imported & exported merchandise is properly marked with country of origin. We require the following experience:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution in logisitics/business.

Licenced US Customs Broker preferred. 1

0 years of experience with US Customs compliance, import and export, preferably with China, Mexico/Canada and Germany.

Five plus years supervisory and management role in import/export is required.

Besides a solid knowledge of Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations, the incumbent should possess specific experience/expertise regarding the following:

·  product classficiations according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS)   

·  valuation, including related party issues

·  country of origin determination

·  record keeping

·  assists

·  product marking

·  duty drawback

·  reduced duty programs (GSP, 9801, 9802)

·  customs aspects of Mexican Maquila operation

·  coordinating and filing annual US Customs reconciliations

·  Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)

·  Framework of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and other Free Trade Agreement (FTA’s)

·  U.S. Customs Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
