BUSINESS OVERVIEW Sypris is a diversified provider of outsourced services and specialty products. We perform a wide range of manufacturing, engineering, design, testing and other technical services, typically under multi-year, sole source contracts with corporations and government agencies in the markets for aerospace & defense electronics, truck components & assemblies, and for users of test & measurements equipment. JOB SUMMARY As Director of Global Supply Chain, this individual will be part of the Sypris Solutions executive team with total responsibility for the performance of the supply chain of Sypris Solutions, Inc. and its subsidiaries. Responsibilities include the transformation of the supply chain into a well-coordinated, unified organization that is a competitive advantage for Sypris, development of strategies and tactics to successfully manage the supply chain and the development of the people in the supply chain organization. This position reports directly to the President and CEO of Sypris Solutions. Supply chain personnel in the subsidiaries report on a solid-line basis to this position and on a dotted-line basis to subsidiary management. To the extent that certain supply chain personnel have duties which are unrelated to the supply chain, they will continue to report to subsidiary management on a solid-line basis with respect to those duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the transformation and development of the Sypris supply chain into a well-coordinated, unified function that is a competitive advantage for Sypris. Develop and implement supply chain strategies, systems, processes and metrics that enable the Sypris supply chain to consistently achieve annual and quarterly operating plan objectives. Continuously upgrade the supply chain team by attracting, engaging, developing and rewarding high performance and skill building and promote its working relationship with the other functions. Develop and manage Sypris’ suppliers to assure an uninterrupted flow of high-quality products and services, on-time delivery, competitive costs and the incorporation of the suppliers’ best offerings and practices into Sypris’ business. Manage the sourcing, materials planning, control, warehousing and logistics activities of the supply chain to achieve both customer service and financial targets Lead the metrics-driven, Continuous Improvement effort of the Sypris supply chain using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Implement the supply chain-related portions of the Sypris Common ERP/Business Transformation project. Maintain awareness of external developments that impact the supply chain and take appropriate actions to accommodate them. Assure compliance with applicable Sypris policies. Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements: U.S. Citizen Bachelor degree in Business, Engineering or related field Minimum of 10 years of experience in positions of progressively increasing responsibility in supply chain management and/or operations. Strong communication skills - both written and oral. Strong analytical, problem-solving and contract negotiation skills. Must be able to travel as necessary to manage a geographically dispersed organization. Significant training and hands-on experience in Continuous Improvement Proven experience at building and leading successful teams and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment. Ability to seamlessly interact with and influence all levels of management. Demonstrated experience in supplier consolidation Demonstrated capability in the various functions in the supply chain including: Materials and operations planning Procurement Quality Contracts and legal issues Applicable ERP and related IT systems Preferred Education and Experience: Advanced degree in Business, Engineering or related field Training and experience in Lean and Six Sigma Demonstrated experience in management of the supply chain for lowest total cost. Demonstrated experience in standardization and/or optimization of factory processes to minimize the cost of indirect items, such as: lubricants, cutting tools, solder paste, utilities, etc. Demonstrated experience in compliant and cost-effective disposal of waste streams and scrap. Demonstrated capability in talent management and use of talent management systems.
