Director of Marketing
The Environmental Solutions Group (ESG), based in Elgin, IL is a division of Federal Signal Corporation, a $1.2B company. ESG designs and manufactures a suite of products and integrated solutions for municipal, governmental, industrial and airport customers. ESG’s portfolio of trusted, leading brands includes Elgin and Ravo street sweepers, Guzzler industrial vacuum loaders, Jetstream high pressure waterblasters and Vactor sewer cleaners and vacuum excavators.
We are currently seeking a Director of Marketing.
REPORTS TO: ESG Vice President – Sales and Marketing
SUPERVISES: Product Managers, Marketing Communications Manager, Director – E-learning and Collaboration Market Manager(s)
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To provide focus in achieving product leadership globally by developing and executing brand strategies and new product plans, as well as deliver the best available sales training tools. This includes the management and delivery of the ESGU curriculum. Develop processes to capture market intelligence and customer intelligence in order to define market trends and translate those trends into advanced product plans, and ultimately, end products that exceed customer’s expectations. Responsible for crafting our market positioning messages in a manner that reflects product leadership and captures the mind share of target customers.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Develop a competitive intelligence library of information that becomes the foundation of developing future long-range product plans. Prepare market analysis and remain abreast of industry and market trends.
2. Manage and coordinate all divisional pricing activities targeted to prevent margin erosion while fostering a strong market position.
3. Develop and implement strategic and operational plans for marketing, product development and sales growth.
4. Responsible for direct supervision, training, development and performance assessment of the marketing staff.
5. Coordinate and recommend overall communications, promotional concepts and marketing plans for product lines and for both the Dealer and the Industrial channels of distribution.
6. Responsible for product launch planning and execution.
7. Manage content and flow of all outbound communications, including web sites, newsletter programs, trade shows, search, online advertising, print advertising, sales materials and client/sales messaging.
8. Sales Support: Work to provide email templates, presentations and proposals as the market bears, arming sales with relevant information to help sales cycles and industry expertise.
9. Develop Strategic Marketing Plans that support the new Enterprise initiatives.
a. Create a brand strategy and marketing plan to support international expansion.
b. Support Enterprise new product development processes with market intelligence.
10. Development of the FS enterprise advanced product plan.
a. Create Market Sensing processes to identify and track macro trends that impact FS business to support the advanced product planning process.
11. Conduct Market Research for FS businesses in key geographic growth regions to support international expansion.
12. Support marketing plan objectives and meet organizational expenditure requirements.
13. Participate in and Support the Enterprise Marketing Council.
14. Provide leadership in the development of acquisitions, joint ventures, affiliations and partnership arrangements.
15. Manage pricing, product mix, and productivity initiatives to improve overall gross margin.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education and/or Background):
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field.
• 12-15 years of Marketing/Sales experience with a minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing environment required.
• Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
• Technical skills in strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research and planning and promotions/advertising.
• Experience with the creative development process and program execution.
• Experience with sales and marketing budgets, P&L’s, forecasts, etc.
• Managing a marketing department/multiple marketing disciplines with a minimum of 8-10 marketing associates.
• Cross-functional experience with engineering, new product development, operations and supply chain.
