Director of Materials Management

Bush Industries, Inc. is the world's product leader in the design, development, and manufacture of high-quality Ready-to-Assemble furniture for the business and home office markets.  Our North American Headquarters is located in Jamestown, in the beautiful western NY area. Bush Industries, Inc. has facilities located in New York, Pennsylvania, Germany, and China. The company sells products through approximately 10,000 retail outlets, including furniture and department stores, office products and electronic retailers, and mass merchandisers.

 

Bush Industries, Inc. has an immediate need for Director of Materials Management, for our office in Jamestown, NY. We are seeking a qualified individual to lead the Materials Management function, which includes Master Production Scheduling, Demand Planning and Detail Scheduling. Incumbent will directly create the Production Plan and lead the SIOP process for the company.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manages the make to stock program for the company.

· Ensures production plan meets customer demand per expectations.

· Ensures material plan meets production schedule requirements.

· Ensures materials are managed to inventory targets.

· Develops staff to continuously improve supply chain depth of organization.

· Understands planning systems to leverage full capability of tools.

· Recommends enhancements to planning tools to improve staff productivity.

· Supervises production planning/scheduling staff.

· Tracks and reports weekly and monthly status of manufacturing performance.

· Interfaces with operations personnel, functional support groups, customers, suppliers, and management to effectively communicate and execute program requirements.

· Assists in preparing cost proposals for new business.

· Monitors costs against established budgets/forecasts.

· Establishes and executes plans to capture opportunities and mitigate risks.

· Develop and analyze reports for the business and to assist in requests from customers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate will possess a BS in Engineering, Business Management or related field, five-plus years experience in a related manufacturing environment with at least three years experience in production planning, and extensive knowledge of order management & MRP systems, Microsoft Office, and I2, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
