Director of Operations - Plant Manger
A leading designer and manufacturer of custom air handling and air conditioning equipment for industrial, institutional and commercial customers, is seeking a Director of Operations – Plant Manger to work at the manufacturing facility located in Springfield, MO.
Job SummaryBuild organizational competence in the areas of Operations. (Manufacturing Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Materials and Quality).Instill business process disciplines.Develop, recruit and re-deploy people-resources in order to establish a culture of operational excellence.Implement “world-class” manufacturing practices, including but not limited to, DFT, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, 5-S, TPM.Drive productivity improvements.Champion cost reduction efforts.Create environment for continuous improvement.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesWill manage Direct Reports, including the Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, Materials Manager and Engineering Manager.
Physical RequirementsAbility to travel via air, road or railway to subsidiary facilities or other off site locations (between 15% - 25% travel, often on short notice).Regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers to write, type and file; reach with hands and arms, see, talk and hear.May be required to squat, reach, kneel, bend at the waist, push and/or pull.May be required to lift and carry heavy files/binders/packages (up to 50 pounds) up and down stairs.

QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline, MBA preferred.3 – 5 years plant management experience.Minimum of ten years manufacturing/engineering management experience.Strong knowledge of business disciplines (i.e. operations, finance, supply chain, marketing, etc,).Skilled at working in a variety of cultures and at multiple levels in organizations.Able to build partnerships and relationships with all levels in an organization.In-depth knowledge of Microsoft and internal company applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, e-mail, internet, etc.).Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in difficult/demanding situations.Current and valid driver’s license.
Working ConditionsModerate noise level and comfortable temperature, reflective of office environment.When in the manufacturing facility, exposure to occupational/environmental hazards present (i.e. noise, vapors, and airborne particles). Use of locally provided personal protective equipment (i.e. eye and ear protection) as required.
