Division Operations Accountant

SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position is responsible for analysis of operating results of Bussmann’s operating units to ensure accurate reporting, adequate analysis and compliance with Corporate and Division policy.   DIMENSIONS: $500+M sales Information Systems: SAP, Business Warehouse (BW), Microsoft Office, and Hyperion Enterprise Financial Reporting System   PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1.  Financial Reporting Period end accounting close, account reconciliations and variance analysis. Insure accuracy and integrity of financial information, including production scrap, labor reporting, etc. Develop and Report on Manufacturing Variances. Prepare and submit monthly reporting for Manufacturing detailed spend data vs. Budget. 2.  Product Costing Maintain accurate product cost files for all plant products.  Conduct bill of material and labor audits on all new plant products and selected existing plant products.  Responsible for accurate audits. Improve/maintain appropriate business/fiduciary controls. This position has frequent interface with other functional departments, including materials, manufacturing and engineering. This interface consists of providing problem definition and solution to issues concerning manufacturing cost, control and inventory accuracy. 3.  Inventory Reporting & Reconciliation Develop, plan, and control costing of physical inventory. Prepare reconciliations of inventory balances on a timely basis.  Develop and recommend effective plans for inventory valuation. Assist on special continuous improvement and cost reduction projects as assigned. Provide backup for department in critical department functions/ systems.   Nature and Scope This position is responsible for a broad range of activities, which will require interaction with Corporate, Division and Operating Unit personnel.  As such, the incumbent must have good interpersonal and communication skills along with the necessary accounting technical skills to handle the varied tasks.  Normal monthly activities will require close involvement with the preparing of the financial statements, primarily the review and analysis of the data.  The position will help monitor and assist in ensuring that the Division operating units are in compliance with Division and Cooper Accounting and Internal Control Polices.  The incumbent will also take a significant role in supporting the operating units inventory and cost accounting issues.   The position will also spend a significant amount of time on continuous improvement and cost reduction projects identified by Division management.  The types of projects assigned require a high degree of personal motivation, independent thinking and analytical skills.    EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB: · Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 3-5 Years Experience in cost accounting or financial analysis in a manufacturing/operations environment · Requires familiarity with standard financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)and working knowledge of accounting principles and practices. · Requires proven knowledge and application of advanced skills in Microsoft Excel · Familiarity with Hyperion Enterprise and/or SAP is highly desirable · Strong attention to detail · Strong verbal and written communications skills   Cooper Industries - M/F/D/V LOCATION:  Ellisville, is 63021STATUS:  Full Time, EmployeeJOB CATEGORY:  Accounting/Finance/InsuranceWORK EXPERIENCE:  2+ to 5 YearsCAREER LEVEL: Experienced (Non-Manager)EDUCATION LEVEL:Bachelor's Degree REFERENCE CODE:285
