Division Quality Manager JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT: Provide leadership and management of the quality function at the division, in accordance with all applicable company and U.S. Government regulations, policies, and procedures. Responsible for ensuring that quality program policies, plans, standards and requirements are met at the facility. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Support and adhere to Parker’s Code of Ethics, ISO requirements, policies, and procedures and observe housekeeping guidelines. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. Interfaces routinely with all plant functions (engineering, manufacturing, sales/marketing), customers and suppliers. Has management responsibilities for the quality department, and reports to the Division General Manager. Essential Assure quality requirements are adequately defined at all functional levels to permit appropriate quality planning and verification of compliance. Identify, develop and implement new methods of quality management and systems, and audit existing systems to meet division initiatives, ISO9000, and other customer requirements. Provide quality-oriented leadership in achieving division quality objectives. Interfaces with internal and external customer to provide comprehensive responses and technical assistance regarding quality systems and/or products. Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance activities for all purchased material, equipment, parts, and processing. Manage supplier quality audits and corrective action plans. Integrate and monitor supplier quality performance with divisional objectives. Utilize automated systems where available to proactively plan, implement and track quality systems and processes. Maintain the highest degree of customer service, throughput, quality, cost reduction and people productivity. Promotes a Continuous Learning environment. Communicate the status of all Lean efforts to the Group Lean Manager. Provides documentation of results and benefits achieved to the Division Staff and the Corporate Lean Leader, as reported through Parker’s Lean Journey assessment and Win Scorecard. Shares “best practice” methods and ideas with Group Lean Manager. Oversees the effective documentation and implementation of the quality management system to assure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements and the standards set by corporate. Division policies. Works with Division leadership to ensure that individuals performing functions affecting quality are trained and demonstrate the appropriate skills and performance results. Maintains a corrective action system to analyze and correct nonconforming conditions and complaints. Marginal1. Assist and instruct in more difficult and complicated set ups. Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct supervision of facility quality assurance, involving responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and personnel. Responsible for supervising hourly associates. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job - four plus years applicable experience in a world-class manufacturing environment is preferred. Knowledge of and experience in Total Quality concepts and ISO procedures. Knowledge and experience with statistical improvement methods, and corrective action development experience. Experience working with steel, grey and ductial iron castings is a plus. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, specifications or technical procedures. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form manager/supervisors or other associates of the organization. Maintain regular inside company contacts with department associates, supervisors and manager to train, motivate, guide, and arrange schedules, requiring tact and discretion. Effective facilitation and coaching skills Mathematical Skills: Ability to use and apply advanced mathematics including algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics. Requires the use of complicated drawings and a wide variety of precision measuring instruments, special gauges and test equipment where interpretation is required. Reference use of set up sheets, parts drawings, specifications, operation sheets, charts, and tables. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certification by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Certified Quality Manager (CQMgr) is a plus. Experience with quality improvement tools and techniques (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis). Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Other Skills and Abilities: Managerial experience, with demonstrated ability to provide leadership and motivation to employees. Requires the ability to operate various office equipment and proficient in a variety of software programs used in the department. Requires the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Limited travel may be required.
