EHS Specialist - Construction Safety

Job Summary This position is responsible for carrying out the tactical EH&S direction of the company and directly supervising the work of Construction Field Safety Supervisors for manufacturing facilities major construction projects and client construction sites. This position implements safety policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with the local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. The incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and implementing organizational EHS initiatives in order to ensure a safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment, especially on construction sites and/or within manufacturing facilities. The successful incumbent maintains good working relationships with all levels of personnel and will quickly respond to questions and/or concerns related to environmental and safety issues.Good decision making skills while supporting project management and interfacing with regulatory agencies is necessary. The candidate must be capable of interpreting regulatory documents. Responsibilities ·Supervision of all Construction Field Safety Supervisors at manufacturing facilities major construction projects and client construction sites·Coordinate Field Safety Supervisor scheduling·Maintains appropriate inventory of required EHS consumables ·Provides training resources to Field Safety Supervisor and maintains records of required training·Assist Sales/Proposal Managers in completing prequalification information ·Resolve any safety issues in the field and/or for clients·Correspond with client to ensure that the client is kept updated on all EHS activities·Maintain compliance with SPX Cooling Technology¿s Safety & Environmental Policies and all applicable client, state and federal safety rules, policies and regulations·Ensures that pre-employment safety training is completed by all employees·Conducts periodic safety inspections and audits·Investigates, reports and follows-up on all work related injuries and accidents·Ensure that chemical hazards are well controlled and that Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are maintained and available for review·Perform such other tasks as are relevant to the position·Responsible for all North American locationsPERFORMANCE MEASURES·100% EHS Staffing as required by SPX internal directives and client requirements·Completion of all EHS incident reports within 24 hours·100% EHS pre-employment training ·All inspections of mobile equipment, electrical, fire extinguisher, fall protection equipment conducted monthly and appropriately documented·External Safety audits identify no critical site deficiencies.·Target 10% annual cost reduction through standardization, efficiency and out of the box thinking Qualifications EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE·A qualified candidate for this position will possess a bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or equivalent years of experience.
