ENGINEERING MANAGER at our facility in Harrisonburg, VA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Responsible for managing, organizing, and coordinating the activities of Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Tool & Die departments to facilitate the achievement of manufacturing goals and ensure continuous production improvements. Includes planning, organizing, and directing TVM cost improvements, Six-Sigma process improvements, and Lean Manufacturing implementation. Manage and direct the Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Tool & Die departments to achieve plant cost reduction goals, improve productivity, and improve machine reliability. Use the BOS process to measure goals throughout the departments. Champion Total Value Management (TVM) and other cost reduction initiatives within the plant. Lead the continuous improvement effort related to the manufacturing processes in the facility that includes Six-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and TVM. Establish operating and process procedures, specifications, routings, and controls for all plant operations. Provide support to the manufacturing production facilities. Conduct process and equipment capability studies, process evaluations, and special studies to determine capabilities required to meet customer needs and specifications. Provide management support for safety initiatives. Coordinate capital expenditures. Manage the evaluation, recommendation, justification, and implementation of process improvements in the areas of operating efficiency, equipment set up/changeover, capability, new technology, and equipment layout for the entire plant. Manage the on-going acquisition of new equipment and the maintenance of existing equipment, tooling, and gauging. Lead and drive preparation of the plant's capital and major non-recurring expense budgets. Keep abreast of engineering developments to assure a continuous up-dating of engineering skills. Interface with the safety department to promote the safety, fire protection, EPA, and OSHA programs and to comply with governmental regulation. Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
REQUIRED SKILLS:Experience in maintenance and quality programs preferred. Experience in Lean manufacturing, TPM, and Kaizen required. Must have strong PC skills (MS Office)TS & ISO familiarity including an understanding of APQP and PPAP required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in engineering required. 7-10 years automotive supply manufacturing experience with a minimum of 2-3 years supervisory experience.
