Electrical Communication Engineer Sr.

Position is located in Lynchburg, VA.

GENERAL SUMMARY

 

Contributes to the design efforts necessary to the development of new products with emphasis on embedded systems for wired and wireless industrial data networks.

 

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILITES

 

Implement design strategies that will economically meet the specifications for proposed new products, as defined by the Product Management Group in a Market Requirements Document [MRD].

 

Contribute technical skills to support new product development

 

Ensure that projects are executed to achieve cost and time goals.

 

Mentor technically oriented human resources to allow them to grow and mature in their fields of expertise while challenging them to broaden their skills set and functional scope.

 

Develop, test, and debug code using contemporary tools and techniques.

 

Work independently with minimal supervision.

 

Work in all phrases of software/hardware development lifecycle.

 

Ability to work an extended flexible schedule under deadline pressures.

 

Occasional domestic or international travel.

 SPECIFICATIONS

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

 

· BS Electrical or Computer Engineering

· Familiarity with communication protocol of one or more industrial data

  networks (Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Zigbee, Bluetooth).

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Good synthetical, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.

 

 

EXPERIENCE ON JOB TO ATTAIN ACCEPTABLE LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE

 

Working knowledge / experience (min 7yrs) with expertise in most of the following skills:

·Solid embedded system design experience integrating actuator or sensor devices with one or more of Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Zigbee, 802-15.4, 802.15-5,  Bluetooth.

·Engineering software (CAD, Schematic Capture & Board layout (Orcad/Allegro), 'C', C++, C#, Labview)

·Logic design for CPLD, FPGA;  VHDL

·Industrial wired and/or wireless networks (Modbus, Fieldbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, Bluetooth (802.15.1), Wireless Mesh 802.15.4 & 5, Zigbee,  DTM/FDT)

· Application of electric motors (three phase, single phase, DC & BLDC) and design of motor controllers

· Design for EMC

· Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis [DFMEA], Design for Safety (SIL)

· TQM & Lean Manufacturing tools
