Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/V/D Job Summary including Duties: This position will act as a technical lead for the Nitrocellulose processing area of the manufacturing plant. This position will carry responsibility for sustaining and improving all aspects of acid manufacturing process performance (quality, efficiency, schedule attainment, equipment reliability, prevention of unplanned events, environmental compliance, etc.) with a continuous focus on safety. This position will assume a level of authority for driving important decisions at a peer level to the operations line manager. The successful candidate needs to be energetic, self-motivated, driven to achieve results in a team environment, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include: * Work with technical and operations leadership teams to identify improvement opportunities. * Act in a lead role, working with various groups of engineers, operations personnel, and management to implement and sustain improvement initiatives (improve efficiency & throughput, eliminate environmental risk, mistake-proofing, improved repeatability & product quality, etc.). * Assist operations leadership to implement lean concepts throughout manufacturing processes. * Know and understand the manufacturing process and how it affects safety, environmental compliance, product quality, cost, and schedule attainment. * Implement improved process control methodologies to reduce variation and prevent process drift. * Work with facility engineering teams to specify, install, and commission new process equipment technology where opportunities exist to improve reliability and effectiveness. * Specification, review, and updating, of SPC methods where applicable. * Responsible for change control within area of assignment. * Provide process-related technical/problem-solving support to operations personnel and product center teams. * Generate, maintain, and update work instructions. * Generate, maintain, and update detailed process maps. * Participate in (and/or lead) Root Cause Investigations and failure Analyses; publish findings and implement corrective and preventive actions.Position Requirements: * 4-year degree, in an engineering or related field, from an accredited university. * 2 years minimum work experience in manufacturing, power generation, or chemical processing industry. Desired: * Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree preferred, but will consider related fields of study or experience. * Background or experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equipment reliability.ATK is on the move.
