We have an excellent opportunity for a result oriented Engine Applications Engineer at our Minneapolis, MN location.



In this position you will:

In collaboration with sourcing management, test & develop extended life engines for Global Transport applications. In collaboration with product management develop regional specifications for engines, test, benchmark and develop suppliers for emerging markets. Additional responsibilities include:

Interface with the TK engine suppliers to test & qualify the engines. Resolve reliability & durability relatd problems on engine applications.
In conjunction with engine sourcing manager develop engines suppliers and engines to meet global and regional requirements. Conduct competitive bench marking and provide product analysis to product marketing & engineering management
Stay current on global/regional emissions regulations. Proactively, ensure the suppliers meet requirements. In collaboration with strategic partners develop energy efficiency improvement programs
Direct the efforts of laboratory technicians during the testing of engines, reviewing such work for accuracy and completeness. Write test reports and conclusions
Initiate value added or cost reducing engine component technologies including oil fileters, fuel filters, air filters, drive couplings and other engines interface components. Selected components and materials must conform to global sourcing and after-market strategies of the organization.
Develop dual citizenship with other IR sectors in engine applications. Leverage competencies to reduce cost and gain competitive advantage.
Develop intellectual property & patents in engine applications & technology. Author technical papers & publish them in leading industry forums.



Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of the fundamentals of diesel engines, structural design, and normal design convention. Requires instrumentation & testing familiarity.
Initiative/Results Orientation: Resourceful and good working knowledge of engine manufacturers. Competent in project planning and execution.
Analytical Skills: Responsible for engine functional performance evaluation (testing). Demonstrated ability to properly run root cause analysis.
Innovation/Problem Solving: Demonstrates creative approaches to design & technology. Research used to keep up to date on new developments.
Customer Focus: Proactively identifies customer requirements and promptly responds to customer needs. Takes reasonable risks in satisfying customer needs.
Communication/ Influence: Ability to effectively communicate to all levels in the company (from shop floor to top management) and outside Climate Control. Speaks and writes clearly, logically and to the point. Listens attentively to others. Builds and maintains relationships. Use of influence to accomplish goals will be frequent.
Teamwork: Supports team members. Solicits diverse participation in decision-making and supports consensus decisions. Builds collaboration among individuals and works to achieve group goals/outcomes.
Planning and Organization: Apply effective organizational skills to a diverse and varied project load. Demonstrate ability to operate under changing conditions. Must set priorities since projects will have scheduled milestones and release dates.
