Engineer - Design

Generate, initiate and complete new product, product improvement and cost reduction ideas based on customer needs and company goals Initiate and complete engineering change requests and product change proposals Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Solidworks Work closely with profit center teams on product quality improvements Review design related customer complaints and identify ways to eliminate quality issues Visit customer and job sites to learn end users and other customer's needs and to help resolve product problems when needed Be an expert on product line related BHMA and UL standards Correspond with agencies that establish certifications and regulations for products (UL, ANSI, BHMA, ITS & ASTM) Design test plans, interpret data and provide technical support to the Test Lab Follow company engineering standards and procedures Provide written and/or verbal interim project reports and timelines Estimate time/cost to complete a task and manage a task queue Participate on industry standard sub-committees as required Requirements: Minimum of a BSME Training in CAD (SolidWorks or Pro-Engineer preferred) Knowledge of drafting standards and standard tolerancing practices include GD&T 3-5 Years of product design experience Project Management experience desired.  Proven project management track recod with cross-functional teams a plus. Ability to work in a team environment due to interaction with many areas such as tooling, purchasing, manufacturing, marketing, and testing Strong oral and written communication skills Decision making and actions are lead by understanding that our only job is to satisfy our customers by exceeding their expectations, continuous improvement aspiration, integrity, and respect to others
