The purpose of this Position involves reviewing and managing cast slabs held during processing for quality reasons, making decisions on reworking or releasing for shipment keeping the company's best interests in mind. Oversees a number of varied product control functions. Determines suitability of use for as-cast steel slabs by reviewing the prior day's production, auditing heat processing and casting records and regarding slabs as necessary also, responsible for maintaining the plant's Grade Card system. May conduct physical slab inspections and audits, as well as surface grind testing of plate product. Assists in investigations concerning downstream rejections of material with Steelmaking related problems. May be part of quality and operating teams addressing particular quality issues. Prepares charts and presentations concerning quality metrics for continuous improvement and business review needs. May be required to prepare and present both oral and written presentations.

Experience Requirements:
 
Minimum/Basic Requirements:
Steelmaking process experience. Computer proficiency (mainframe, data analysis, personal computing). Able to work in a team environment. Good communication skills. Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

Preferred Requirements:
Preferred Requirements: 3-5 years Quality related experience.
