Engineer, Supply Chain

FPC Raleigh has been engaged to locate new talent with a technical background for a role in mechanical component sourcing. This excellent company is looking for an engineer who has experience in working with external suppliers to resolve technical issues, ensuring compliance to print and specifications, and in working with design teams to determine alternative specifications and design details. This is a highly visible role focused on global supply chain support and is seen by the Manager as a developmental role for his replacement.  The company is doing very well and enjoys year after year double-digit sales growth. They are a rapidly growing supplier of control devices to the oil and gas, chemical and nuclear industries. Their stock is up 2.5 times in 3 years. The facility offers excellent visibility and opportunities for career growth since many influential company leaders are on-site. For example, the General Manager has been promoted 5 times in the last 9 years. I have recently placed others at this company who were promoted after only 6 months. The successful candidate will be under the direction of the Supply Line Manager and will have the lead on obtaining materials, studying market trends, working with vendors and corporate procurement teams located in low cost countries to ensure high quality and on time delivery. Significant technical experience is mechanical component design is required.   Required Qualifications:BS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering 7+ years experience Track record of resolving technical issues with complex machined mechanical components. This might be as a manufacturing engineer, VA/VE engineer, or as a sourcing engineer. Preferred Qualifications:Component sourcing experience from low cost countries Design experience machined components including gears, shafts, and power transmission devices Lean experience (Kanban, SMED, value stream mapping, Kaizen, 5S, etc) Interest in upward career progression MBA In addition to this role, I focus on growth-oriented opportunities in operations, quality, and materials, with most of my clients located in the Southeast and Midwest.
