OFS Fitel, Specialty Photonics Division, located in Somerset, NJ continues to grow its Optical Fiber Team and is currently seeking an innovative and hands-on Engineering Aide with good well-rounded mechanical skills to: Perform Production Basic measurements of Erbium Doped and High-Power Optical Fiber including geometry, optical, and splice.Work closely with Measurement Engineer to develop and document Production measurement processes including geometry and optical measurements of star-fiber and PM for Rare-earth doped and undoped fibers.Perform Fiber Draw process start-up, line-run, and end-of-Draw process stages for standard product Draws.Perform MM Test-Draws and custom Draws as required.  Work closely with Draw staff to identify, develop, and implement Draw process continuous improvements.

Qualifications:HS diploma or equivalent (technical degree preferred)2-5 years similar experienceSkilled in use of measurement equipment, including OSA, OTDR, PMD, Optical and Geometry benches, power meters, splicers, cleavers, etc.Skilled in data collection, analysis of data, and development of conclusions.Must be able to promote a team environment and share information and conclusions with team members.Must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to multi-task where mental, visual attention along with manual coordination is requiredDemonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills
